Hotel Japan

My story

A few years ago, my partner and I decided that we would take another trip to Japan. Instead of trying to see a bunch of places within the country, we decided that we would stay only in Tokyo. It is such a huge metropolis that we had to make sure to dedicate a trip to try to explore more of the city. Anyway, we didn’t think very long about hotels and decided kind of forgot about booking them because life was so busy at the time.

This came back to bite us in the rear! We realized that we were running out of time and that most hotels were booked. We scoured the internet and found a deal that seemed to be amazing. The hotel was called Hotel Japan and offered us a great room at about seventy US dollars a night. However, when we got there, we found out that the hotel was in truly rough shape. The sanitation level was very low and it smelled bad.

The worst part, however, was that we found bed bugs in the room! We notified the hotel immediately. They contacted a relocated California based company that specialized in termite control Bakersfield. They performed the bedbug treatment and even did a free termite inspection! Luckily we got our money back.

Bottom line: Be careful where you stay!

Packing for Your Trip

You’ve purchased your flights. Your hotel is booked. You’ve even got a taxi waiting for you when you land. Congratulations! You are off to a great start on your vacation. You get to your hotel, throw your suitcase on the bed, open it, and…..?

That’s right. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. You haven’t packed yet! If you’re somebody who worries about packing, then worry no more. There is a good list of things to generally bring on a vacation. We will discuss this list as well as other things that you might want to bring specifically for your trip to Japan. After reading this post, you should be able to fill your suitcase in a breeze. Keep reading to find out more information!

In Your Suitcase

One of the best rules to follow when you are deciding on what to bring for your trip is to pack lightly. This can be tough for some people who want to be in control of every situation. Of course, it is good to be prepared, but to a reasonable extent. You won’t need to pack your entire closet for every kind of situation. The best thing to do is to take the number of days that you will be there and divide it by four. That should determine the number of outfits that you have. The great thing about Japan is that it is highly developed. You will be able to do your laundry pretty much everywhere! So, follow the Golden Rule: Pack lightly!

Taking Your Memories Back Home

Hopefully through reading our posts about visiting Japan, you have become inspired and have decided to go see for yourself the magic that surrounds this island country. If we’ve been really convincing, we hope that you’ll also make plans to visit the things that we’ve suggested in our posts. We’ve put a lot of thought into them and we hope that you will have an awesome time there!

Speaking of having an awesome time, you will want to be sure to capture all of the awesome moments you have while you are on your trip. It is easy to get wrapped up in the moment. However, you definitely need to take a second and save a little bit of that moment for later! In addition, you’ll also let others share in that moment by bringing those memories back with you!

There are several ways that you can capture and store your memories from Japan. Some people choose to go all out and get a fancy camera. They come in all shapes and sizes, but DSLR (digital single lens reflex) cameras are very popular and accessible.

If you are more of the point and shoot kind of person, then we would like to suggest some other options to you. For example, you can get a polaroid camera. These are very fun and you can see your results almost instantly. They’re perfect for scrapbooking later. Another option is a smartphone. This is particularly convenient because you’ll be able to carry a camera with you at all times with no extra baggage.

Tasty Food

My Experience

If you’re curious about trying new foods, then Japan is definitely the place for you. I have visited Japan about six times now, and every time I go, I am struck with some new tastes and textures.

My latest adventure involved trying some sushi on the island of Shikoku. I had been in Japan for a week already and had thought that I had seen enough sushi to last me at least a decade. However, when I arrived on this small island, I went to the local restaurant and found out that unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, who knows) all they were serving was sushi. I was mildly disappointed only because I really wanted to try some other kinds of dishes. I was considering leaving for somewhere else, but decided to stay just because I was so hungry. I’m so glad I did.

They served an incredible salmon roll that I had never before experienced. The salmon was so soft that I felt it would melt in my mouth. The rice and cucumbers were fresh, and the wasabi was spicy. It changed the way I view salmon sushi.

Going to Japan for a vacation or any sort of extended stay means that you will be completely immersed in Japanese culture. One very big part of this culture is the food. Japanese food is amazing because there are so many textures and tastes to try. To many people in the western world, these new gastronomic experiences might seem like they are a little bit strange. However, don’t fret, because the chances are you will love what you are going to taste. There are a host of other dishes that have made their way over to the United States. However, a great deal of authentic Japanese dishes can only be found in specific Japanese restaurants.

Today, we are going to focus on talking about a food that is probably familiar to you – sushi. This rice and fish roll meal may seem like something that is a little bit mundane to you. However, if you have only had sushi in the United States or somewhere else in the western world, chances are you are missing out on the real flavors of sushi. Keep reading for more information

A signature meal

Like many other things in Japanese culture, the concept of sushi is based on tradition. There are many things that go into the preparation of sushi, including the picking of the fish and cooking of the rice. These are all done in a certain manner according to tradition. For some, this is an art that they practice all of their life.
